The joint exercise that celebrates the collaboration born during Vaia is underway at Chies
CHIES D’ALPAGO. Three days of exercises and collaboration at Chies for the civil protection of the Alpago and Treviso. Today, Saturday 21 May, the regional councilor for civil protection, Gianpaolo Bottacin, participated in the activity to follow the exercise organized following a collaboration born between Alpago and Treviso with Vaia, in 2018, when the operational team of the volunteer group of the Treviso municipality was assigned to monitoring the Tessina landslide in the town of Funes.
From that experience, the idea of renewing the collaboration took shape through an operational exercise, which was developed in three days that began on Friday and which will continue until tomorrow between forestry activities, landslide monitoring and simulation of missing persons search, also through the canine unit of the Treviso group. All coordinated through the operations room set up in the former schools of Lamosano, a site used by volunteers also as a base camp, where dormitories, canteens and services have been set up.
“An opportunity for me once again to thank our tireless volunteers”, explains Councilor Bottacin, “more and more the civil protection operational teams of the Region are employed, in support of the territory and citizens, to deal professionally various emergencies. Therefore, the exercises are also important, which aim to keep the specific training of the volunteers continuous, so as to be always ready and prepared, to face in a timely manner, every
needs in the various operational scenarios “.
“A professionalism, that of the volunteers and of the entire organizational machine of our regional civil protection”, Bottacin underlines, “which was also recognized by the President of the Republic Mattarella after Vaia, when speaking at the municipal theater of Belluno he spoke of excellence of the Venetian system “.
