Alviero Martini in judicial administration for labor exploitation

A bolt from the blue sheds light on the proceedings implemented against Alviero Martini. The autonomous prevention measures section of the Court of Milan ordered the judicial administration, in an investigation by the Carabinieri of the Labor Inspectorate Unit and the prosecutor Paolo Storari. The well-known Italian brand famous for its accessories with the iconic Geo print is “deemed incapable of preventing and curbing phenomena of labor exploitation within the production cycle”. Furthermore, profits would have been maximized by using “Chinese factories” and “using illegal and clandestine labour”, report numerous national press funds.

The commissioner was ordered by the Prevention Measures Section, chaired by Fabio Roia, paid by the company founded in 1991 and based in Milan, which produces in particular bags and accessories famous for the geographical maps drawn. According to the investigations, the company would have “never carried out inspections or audits on the production chain to ascertain the real working conditions and technical capabilities of the contracting companies so as to (guiltily) facilitate subjects reached by substantial evidentiary elements regarding the crime of gangmastering” .

It has been confirmed, we read above The print, that “the fashion house would have entrusted the entire production to third-party companies through a procurement contract with a prohibition on sub-contracting without prior authorization, with complete outsourcing of the production processes”. And the contracting companies, however, would have “only nominally an adequate production capacity and can compete on the market only by outsourcing the orders to Chinese factories, which in turn manage to reduce costs thanks to the use of irregular and clandestine labor in conditions of exploitation”.
