At least ten injured in a shooting in Florida, including an NFL player

A 16-year-old boy opened fire early Sunday morning at a party held in the city of Sanford, Florida, USA, wounding at least ten people, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office reported. Among the victims is Tank Dell, an American football player for the Houston Texas of the National Football League (NFL).

The shooter, who was arrested shortly after the incident because a patrol was in the area, went to a place called Cabana Live after midnight where a private party was being held. After a “verbal altercation that intensified,” he shot at the crowd, the authorities detailed.

“Upon arrival, deputies heard multiple gunshots coming from the rear of the establishment, which caused the crowd to disperse,” the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in its statement.

The teenager was immobilized with the help of the establishment’s security personnel, who ensured that all workers were safe. A total of ten victims suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, mainly to the lower extremities, authorities stated.

Regarding the player Tank Dell, the Houston Texas issued a brief statement: “He suffered a minor injury, but has been released from the hospital and is in good spirits. We ask that you please respect his privacy in this moment.”

Cabana Live is an event venue and restaurant located in Sanford, about 18 miles north of Orlando. The incident has sparked concerns about safety at public gatherings and the need for better security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
