Attempted corruption case of the IG FARDC: the High Military Court continues its mobile hearings in Goma

The High Military Court continued Tuesday March 26 in Goma (North Kivu) its mobile hearings in the case of embezzlement and attempted corruption of the General Inspectorate of the FARDC (IG) by certain army officers based in the North -Kivu.

Until this Tuesday’s hearing, the High Military Court was still unclear about the exact origin of the sum of fifteen million Congolese francs (5,555 USD) which would have been intended to corrupt the delegation of the General Inspectorate of the FARDC on mission to Goma in 2022. And this, despite the insistence of the prosecution body which incriminates the main accused in this case, the head of the remuneration office of the 34th military region, Lieutenant-Colonel Katengu Jerry .

During this hearing, the High Court confronted the three intelligence officers present in front of the bar. Among them are the director in charge of administration and two captains, all from the 34th military region. They were confronted by the main accused, Lieutenant Colonel Katengu Jerry.

In its questioning of the defendants, the public prosecutor wanted to understand the origin of the sum of fifteen million Congolese francs, handed over to the commission of the General Inspection of the FARDC in 2022 while it was on an inspection mission.

To this question, the audience noted an ambiguous groping in response from the main accused, Lieutenant-Colonel Katengu Jerry. He denied the authenticity of the discharge containing the sum of fifteen million francs, before later recognizing his signature on the act of recognition by which this money was given to the delegation from Kinshasa.
