The Herbsthof in Thalheim, a district of Oschatz in northern Saxony, has been named the best organic farm shop in Germany for the second time. The prize went to Oschatz in 2022. Farmer Axel Heinze and colleagues from the family business received the award on Wednesday at the Biofach trade fair in Nuremberg.
The price is the result of a customer vote that the trade magazine “Schrot & Korn” calls for every year. According to the paper, 50,000 votes were cast in the readers’ poll to select the four best from more than 2,500 German organic stores.
The evaluations were in the categories of freshness, variety of product range, advice, price-performance and atmosphere. The special feature of the winning stores is that they are characterized by the individual personality of their owners and a high level of customer loyalty.
