Bodies found “most likely” are those of missing surfers in Mexico

The bodies found in Baja California are believed to be those of the three missing surfers from the United States and Australia, Mexican authorities announced on Sunday. The State Attorney General, María Elena Andrade, revealed that a forensic investigation showed that the bodies had gunshot wounds to the head, matching the description of the missing surfers – American Jack Carter Rhoad and Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson.

The surfers went missing on April 29 while surfing and camping near the town of Ensenada, about 100 kilometers south of Tijuana. The bodies were discovered on a cliff south of Ensenada, along with the burnt remains of the men’s truck approximately 65 kilometers away.

Relatives of the surfers arrived in Tijuana on Saturday and will be involved in the process of identifying the bodies. Andrade indicated that the formal identification process is expected to be completed in the coming hours.

The tragic discovery has left both the local community and the surfing world in mourning. The surfers’ families and friends are grappling with the devastating loss as they await confirmation of the identities of the deceased.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murders, as the community seeks answers and justice for the three young men whose lives were tragically cut short.
