Children down another 36% since last year. The Municipality asks again for the derogation to the dimensioning
BORGOFRANCO D’IVREA. The nursery school in the Bajo Dora hamlet, on which the ax of closure has been hanging for a couple of years, should also be saved for the upcoming school year, which takes off on Monday 13 September, due to the rigid requirements of the school sizing.
The council of Mayor Fausto Francisca, meeting in recent days, formally asked the Metropolitan City of Turin once again to maintain the plexus by way of derogation in consideration of a series of important factors. The answer has not yet arrived, but city administrators are confident. “The students enrolled at the moment are twelve, seven less than last year – explains the councilor for education Lilliana Blasutta -. But the kindergarten is located about three kilometers from the capital and is an important reference point for families who can take advantage of the collaboration of grandparents to accompany the children. There is no public transport line to connect the capital to the hamlet. It should also be considered that the hamlet of Bajo Dora is located on the right bank of the Dora Baltea river and has very few services. The complex then presents all the health and safety requirements, after a series of redevelopment interventions implemented by the Municipality. Factors that already last year had allowed the maintenance of the plexus in derogation ».
One of the hypotheses on the field last year was the merger with the maternal of San Germano, which confirms the two sections. An option then excluded.
“In our favor – recalls the councilor for education Lilliana Blasutta – plays the fact that we are a mountain municipality that in the past was part of the mountain community Dora Baltea, and that the two preschools are a reference point for families residing in the two hamlets, about three kilometers from the capital. Combining the two complex schools located in the center of the country would be a serious inconvenience for families. And also for young pupils accustomed to their reference schools. Therefore, the demographic decline must not be the only evaluation criterion for the provision of school services. Without forgetting the investment we have made for safety measures in the two complexes made possible by a call from the Ministry of Education for the year 2020 ».
The nursery of Bajo Dora is part of the comprehensive institute of Settimo Vittone, led by the manager Natale Necchi, includes 15 complexes, of which 7 are for kindergarten, 6 for primary and two for lower secondary education. Lydia Massia
