Brosso, between books and banners, the 130 years of Soms at the service of citizens

BROSSO. “Around a flag – The Mutual Aid Society of Brosso and its miners” is the title of the book with which the Brossian Bianca Gera retraced pages of the history of her country through the events of the Society of her country and its protagonists. And in recent days, around that same flag that will turn 130 in September, representatives of numerous Soms sisters chaired by Pier Vittorio Gillio, from Canavese and other Piedmontese locations, gathered to celebrate the anniversary. Theater of the appointment is the municipal hall that until Sunday 31 will host the photographic exhibition “A flag for an ideal – Mutual Aid through its banners” in which the images of the flags of about twenty Soms in Piedmont are exhibited. Among the guests, Sebastiano Solano (Vice President of the Italian Federation of Integrative and Voluntary Mutuality), Enzo Francone (Vice President of the Council of the Canavese Soms), as well as the mayor of the town, Anna Vigliermo Brusso. Pier Vittorio Gillio himself, recently elected regional vice president of the Coordination of the Mutual Aid Society, did the honors. In their speeches Solano, Francone and the first citizen Vigliermo Brusso expressed their satisfaction with the activity that the Brossese company is carrying out by encouraging its managers to continue on the path taken. Subsequently, the volunteer operators of the “Sportello del Benessere”, set up a few months ago by the local Soms, presented the services provided by the initiative. During the Sunday Mass, the more than 100-year-old social flag was finally blessed by Don Matteo Somà.
