PDDRC-S agents and executives were trained, from March 5 to 12 in Bukavu, on community reintegration and conflict resolution strategies in South Kivu and Tanganyika.
Through this one-week training, the PDDRC-S wants to take over recovery and community reintegration after the disengagement of MONUSCO.
Among the PDDRC-S executives trained are the administrators of the territories of South Kivu and Tanganyika.
The national coordinator of the PDDRCS, Abbot Jean-Bosco Bahala, explained the meaning of this training:
“Everything does not end where demobilization begins. It continues in the community so that the community feels the effects of peace. This boy is going to be a farmer, a carpenter tomorrow and could become a trader. Tomorrow we are going to reopen all these plantations which are milking and where we do not see any production. We are going to hand them over to our demobilized so that they can work with their communities to achieve development.”
This activity takes place during this period of the process of gradual disengagement of the UN mission and which the PDDRCS is supposed to take over by April 30.
This training was facilitated by UNDP with support from the Japanese government.
