Maria Licciardi, boss of the Camorra considered by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (Dda) of Naples to be the number one of the Licciardi clan, as well as a top figure in the cartel called Alleanza di Secondigliano, was arrested. Early in the morning of 7 August, at Ciampino airport, the Carabinieri del Ros notified the woman of a detention order issued by the Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office. Maria Licciardi, sister of Gennaro, nicknamed “the monkey” and founder of the criminal organization, is accused of mafia-type association, extortion, receiving stolen money of illicit origin, disruption of the auction. All crimes are aggravated by mafia purposes.
More specifically, the woman, born in Secondigliano in 1951 and nicknamed “a piccerella”, “bloody Mary” but also “mamma camorra”, was stopped by the carabinieri del Ros at the departures of the Rome Ciampino airport, while she was preparing to take a direct flight to Spain.
