More than 6.4 million euros are flowing from the state treasury into the Mobility Innovation Center. The Ministry of Science announced on Tuesday in Erfurt that the money will primarily be used to finance investments in research infrastructure as well as expenditure on personnel and technology. The center is intended to accompany the structural change in the automotive industry. Vehicle manufacturers and suppliers are among the industrial sectors with the highest sales in Thuringia.
Digital modes of transport, digital components, materials, products and processes as well as digital networking form the focus of the research. The innovation center is the largest research project in the history of the Ilmenau University of Technology, said the ministry.
