Referee excitement around Real Madrid again? This time Los Blancos can do even less than they did against Almería. Because after three VAR decisions in favor of Real Madrid caused a stir in and outside of Spain over a week ago, it is now the scene with Rodrygo Goes against Las Palmas keeper Álvaro Valles. Both had clashed in the 5th minute, Rodrygo even wiped Valles’ face with his hand – referee César Soto Grado turned a blind eye and left it at yellow, not assessing the scene as violence.
“Very clear, it is red”
Soto Grado and his conversation with the Real Madrid players about Rodrygo’s action with Álvaro Vallés

But it is not this situation alone that causes a “Polémica” 48 hours later, but rather a scene from the half-time break. Rights holder DAZN has published a scene in which the referee talks to Real captain Nacho Fernández about the Rodrygo scene. The fact that the referee allegedly said “Sure, that was red” quickly spread on social networks – does that also apply to the clarification? On Monday evening, the RFEF association, or more precisely the referee association CTA, reacted with one Press release and clarified: “What Soto Grado said about the assessment of a Real Madrid player is: ‘If it was reversed, you would say it was clearly red.'”
So again, a lot of excitement about nothing? Obviously, especially since DAZN may have deliberately distributed the images in an inflammatory manner – in tweets and in the DAZN article only the sentence “Sure, that was red” appears, taken out of context. Deliberate incitement by the streaming provider? The excitement against Real is correspondingly great, and it seems doubtful that this correction can reach all the people who were incited and catch them again. RFEF and CTA each ask clubs to: “We ask the players of both clubs who were present at the conversation to honestly confirm the correct version.” That could calm the situation somewhat, but here too it will probably never reach everyone who suspects a conspiracy involving Real Madrid.
