The national committee has recognized almost 790 thousand euros for municipalities

Valle d’Aosta becomes the second region in Italy for per capita quantities of differentiated paper and cardboard. According to the twenty-sixth report of the Comieco consortium, in 2020 our region separated almost ten thousand tons of paper and cardboard waste (+ 1.2% compared to 2019), approximately 77.4 kg for each Aosta Valley. Only the citizens of Emilia Romagna have differentiated more.

«2020 was a year marked by many important events that affected collection management – highlights Comieco -: the pandemic, together with the fluctuations in the pulp market, saw the return to convention of many municipalities. In Valle d’Aosta, Comieco, after the selection activities, managed 9,658 tons (+ 7% compared to the previous year), transferring almost 790 thousand euros in economic considerations to the municipalities under agreement ».

On a national level, the separate collection of paper and cardboard has held up overall with almost 3.5 million tons collected. In a general context in which waste has decreased by 3% and overall separate collections have decreased by 2.5%, that of paper and cardboard has decreased slightly, by only 0.6%. This means that the attention for cellulosic waste, even in this scenario, has remained high.
