CONEGLIANO. Enzo Bruschi, for a long time head of the surgery department of the De Gironcoli hospital, passed away at the age of 84. He had been part of the medical team of Professor Pietro Confortini as a young man, when in 1968 a kidney transplant for a renal patient was performed in the hospital of Verona. At the time it was a celebrated event, the second case in Italy of kidney transplantation.

A pioneering operation that made the Verona transplant center a center of excellence. After graduating in medicine, Dr. Bruschi specialized in general surgery and nephrology. At the beginning of his career he also worked at the Treviso hospital, where at the end of the 1960s the nephrology and dialysis ward, founded by Professor Ciro De Rosa, was set up. In 2019, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary, Dr. Bruschi was remembered as one of the doctors who had helped to start that project, from which the Ca ‘Foncello transplant center was created in 1977.

In the 1980s, Enzo Bruschi was promoted as head of the surgery department at De Gironcoli in Conegliano. In the hospital that was then under the management of the Institute of the Sisters of the Order of Mary Help of Christians, Enzo Bruschi was one of the leading professionals. Appointed primary in 1983, he had worked with dedication and humanity at De Gironcoli for over two decades, until reaching retirement in 2004.

Several Coneglianesi remember Dr. Bruschi, as well as for the care received, for his friendliness and commitment to his activity. Among his passions were art, history and he was also interested in marine biology. Former primary Bruschi passed away on Thursday. He lived in the hamlet of Bagnolo with his beloved wife Francesca. His children Anna and Alvise and family members also remember him fondly. The funeral will be celebrated on Monday at 3 pm in the church of Bagnolo.
