CONEGLIANO. Each municipality along the Piave river has returned 125 kilos of waste. This was certified by the volunteers who participated in the PiaveNet operation, an extraordinary cleaning day of the Piave river promoted by Savno and the Council of Bacino Sinistra Piave. Rubber, plastic and glass bottles, and even a dinghy: the total amount of waste collected by the over a thousand operators who have plumbed the river banks of Salgareda, Ponte di Piave, Ormelle, Cimadolmo, Mareno di Piave, Santa Lucia di Piave, Sernaglia della Battaglia, Moriago della Battaglia, Vidor, Valdobbiadene and Segusino.

“Abandoned waste, not only on the Piave but everywhere, is a problem that we have been facing for some time: Piave Net is only one of the many activities we have devised to combat it”, says the president of Savno, Giacomo De Luca. With the 2022 edition now in the archive, it is already time to think about the future, expanding to the Belluno area, on the one hand, and the Venetian, on the other. “We strongly believe in this event, our will is to expand the number of adhesions: this would allow us to clean up the banks of the river, covering the entire course, from the source to the mouth”, says Roberto Campagna, president of the Council of the Basin of Left Piave. “For this – he anticipates – starting from next year, the neighboring municipalities of the Piave del Bellunese and Veneziano will also be involved, with which we have already started the first operational meetings”.
