The enemy drone that killed three U.S. soldiers and wounded dozens at a U.S. base in Jordan was not shot down because it was apparently mistaken for a U.S. drone returning to the facility, two Washington officials said Monday.
Officials told various media outlets that preliminary reports suggest that while the enemy drone was flying at low altitude, another American drone was returning to Tower 22, which is why it may have passed to the base by mistake. Consequently, no effort was made to bring it down.
