There are 44,489 new coronavirus positives according to the bulletin issued on 17 May (an increase of 225.5% compared to yesterday 16 May and 159.3 compared to Tuesday 10 May), with 335,217 swabs carried out and a positive rate of 13.3% (yesterday 13.04%). The deaths in the last 24 hours have been 148; there were 102 yesterday and 158 on Tuesday 10 May. 337 patients are hospitalized in intensive care units, with 39 admissions per day; lower numbers both compared to yesterday (353, with 24 entries in 24 hours) and compared to a week ago (363, 27). In the ordinary wards, 7,465 patients are hospitalized; also this down both yesterday (7,631) and May 10 (8,735). People in home isolation are 959,599 (yesterday 974,384) and the total of currently positive is 967,401 (yesterday 982,368). In the 24 hours, 59,720 people were discharged / healed. The total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic is 17,116,550.

In the regions

Today the Italian region with the highest number of newly infected is Lombardy (6,963), followed by Campania (5,291), Lazio (4,111), Veneto (3,965), Puglia (3,355) and Sicily (3,281). Valle d’Aosta alone has fewer than 100 new infected: 81.

In Campania 5,291 new cases and 8 deaths

There are 5,291 new cases of contagion registered in Campania in the last 24 hours. This was announced by the crisis unit of the Campania Region. Of the new positives, 4,939 are from antigenic, 352 from molecular. A total of 30,617 swabs processed, of which 24,999 antigenic, 5,618 molecular. There are 8 deaths of which 7 in the last 48 hours and 1 previously, but recorded yesterday. 35 intensive care beds are occupied (585 total available); 562 hospital beds occupied (3,160 total available).

In Tuscany 2,625 new cases and 6 deaths

In Tuscany there are 1,133,738 cases of coronavirus positivity, 2,625 more than yesterday (410 confirmed with molecular swab and 2,215 by rapid antigen test). New cases are 0.2% more than the previous day’s total. The healed grew by 0.3% and reached 1,086,237 (95.8% of total cases). Today 2,426 molecular swabs and 15,916 rapid antigenic swabs were performed, of which 14.3% were positive. On the other hand, 3,735 subjects were tested today (with antigenic and / or molecular swab, excluding control swabs), of which 70.3% were positive. The currently positive are 37,488 today, -1.2% compared to yesterday. There are 435 hospitalized (11 fewer than yesterday), of which 16 in intensive care (3 fewer). Today there are 6 new deaths: 2 men and 4 women with an average age of 84.8 years. Regarding the province of residence, the 6 deceased people are: 3 in Florence, 3 in Pisa. The average age of the 2,625 new positives today is approximately 47 years (16% are under 20, 18% between 20 and 39, 33% between 40 and 59, 24% between 60 and 79, 7% have 80 years or older).

730 new cases and 6 deaths in Friuli Venezia Giulia

In the last 24 hours in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 730 positivity to Covid were ascertained from 8,386 swabs (8.70%), of which 132 from 4,353 molecular swabs (3.03%) and 598 from 4,033 antigenic swabs (14.82%) . Specifically, 325 cases were registered in Udine, 89 in Gorizia, 154 in Trieste and 148 in Pordenone; to these are added 14 cases from outside the region. In the last 24 hours there have been 6 deaths, 3 in Udine, 2 in Trieste and 1 in Pordenone. The patients admitted to intensive care are 2, 149 in the other wards. The data was provided by the Central Directorate for Health, Social Policies and Disability of the Region. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Fvg, 374,303 positivity have been recorded, while the deaths have been 5,073. Finally, the incidence over 7 days (per 100 thousand inhabitants) is 347.9.
