On the one hand, the confirmation of the efficacy of vaccine protection against the coronavirus. On the other hand, the need to advance rapidly in the immunization campaign to curb the spread of the infection, also in view of the reopening of schools in September. These are the two aspects that emerge looking at the data of the infections in the last month, in the processing done by Lab24. The average of new cases has risen from 782 of 5 July ai 6.413 of 3 August. But in the progression, the greatest numbers are recorded among young and very young people, the age group in which the vaccinated rate is the lowest: half of the new infected have less than 30 years. In absolute terms, the cases are multiplied by ten.
Between vaccines and infections
The counter-proof comes from another data: from December 27 (start date of the vaccination campaign) the number of infected people grew less in the age groups involved first in terms of priority in the vaccination campaign.

The July race
At the beginning of July, the average of seven-day daily cases was 782. Since that moment the statistics have registered an inexorable increase, a sign of a new wave in progress: the biggest step is that of mid-month, when it has gone from just over a thousand cases to almost 5 thousand, which have become 6.413 in the survey of 3 August. In the meantime, the weight of those under 30 has increased. From 46,5% al 54%. In absolute numbers: from 364 almost to 3.471. Ten times as much.
Vaccination rates
In the age group 12-19 years only the 19,6% is vaccinated, while the 62,6% has not yet received any dose. Among the twenties (20-29 years old) the fully vaccinated are the 41,5% but over a third (36,2%) is waiting to have the first dose. These are the lowest percentages among all age categories, also because the immunization of young people started after the vaccination of the categories considered at risk.
