Covid, unvaccinated over 80 mortality is 15 times higher

In the last 30 days, the hospitalization rate of unvaccinated over 80s is 9 times higher than fully vaccinated (187.8 vs 21.1 hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants), while in intensive care it is 15 times higher (14.6 vs 1.0). As for the death rate, it is fifteen times higher in the unvaccinated than in the full cycle vaccinated (5.3 vs 0.3 per 100,000 inhabitants). This was noted by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità in its extended document on the update of the epidemic, published today on the EpiCentro portal.

FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA

Today in Friuli Venezia Giulia 144 new infections have been detected on 3,882 molecular swabs (including 7 migrants-asylum seekers in Trieste) with a positive percentage of 3.7%. There are also 5,662 rapid antigenic tests performed from which 18 cases (0.31%) were detected. There are no deaths today. There are 15 people hospitalized in intensive care, while the number of hospitalized in other departments decreases to 48. This was announced by the deputy governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia with responsibility for Health Riccardo Riccardi. EMILIA ROMAGNA

TUSCANY

The new positive cases in Tuscany are 491 more than yesterday (485 confirmed with molecular swab and 6 by rapid antigen test), which bring to 273,434 cases registered since the beginning of the pandemic. The average age of the 491 new positives today is about 39 years (21% are under 20, 32% between 20 and 39, 30% between 40 and 59, 12% between 60 and 79, 5% have 80 years or older). The healed grew by 0.2% and reached 255,531 (93.5% of total cases). Today 8,243 molecular swabs and 11,199 rapid antigenic swabs were performed, of which 2.5% were positive. On the other hand, 5,599 subjects were tested today (with antigenic and / or molecular swab, excluding the control swabs), of which 8.8% were positive. The currently positive are 10,875 today, + 0.3% compared to yesterday. The people hospitalized in the beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 459 (3 more than yesterday, plus 0.7%), 59 in intensive care (stable compared to yesterday). Today there is 1 new death: a 56-year-old man. Regarding the province of residence, the deceased person is in Arezzo.

UMBRIA

Covid hospitalizations rose to 53 on the last day in Umbria (there were 51 on Friday), eight of which (two more) in intensive care. According to the data of the Region updated to 4 September, the healed in the last 24 hours are 114, but there is another death (1,434 in all since the beginning of the pandemic). There are 100 new positive cases. 5,174 antigen tests and 1,782 molecular swabs were analyzed. The overall positivity rate is therefore equal to 1.43 percent.

In the Marche two other deaths related to Covid-19 bring the regional total of victims to 3,051: an 86-year-old resident in the province of Rome, who was hospitalized in Pesaro, died; and an 80-year-old from Ancona, inpatient at the Ospedali Riuniti in the regional capital. CAMPANIA

There are 455 new positives at Covid in Campania, out of 20,778 tests examined. The incidence rate remains substantially stable, at 2.18% (yesterday at 2.09), but the bulletin of the Crisis Unit reports two new victims and a leap forward in hospitalizations, at 373 (+26) . There was also a slight increase in the occupancy of the intensive beds, which number 26 (+1).

BASILICATA

Forty-eight of the 1,151 swabs analyzed in Basilicata in the last 24 hours were positive according to what was announced by the regional task force, in the daily bulletin on the progress of the epidemic, which also records 41 new healings (now there are, in total, 26,450 those who have passed the disease). 43 people are hospitalized, three of whom are treated in intensive care. There are 1,329 people in home isolation.

PUGLIA

There are 228 new coronavirus cases detected in Puglia out of 16,224 recorded daily tests, with an incidence of 1.4%. The victims were 5. SARDINIA

In Sardinia there are 173 further confirmed cases of Covid positivity, based on 2,684 people tested. A total of 8,388 tests were processed, between molecular and antigenic. There are also two deaths: a 53-year-old man residing in the metropolitan city of Cagliari and a person residing in the province of Sassari. 25 patients admitted to intensive care units (1 more than yesterday) while 233 patients admitted to the medical area (6 more than yesterday).
