From the Society of Architects of Risaralda, four project proposals were presented that seek to improve quality and levels of competitiveness in matters, not only economic, but also tourism for the city and the department. These points, socialized during the sectoral table on February 20 for the construction of the Risaralda Development Plan 2024-2027, had the participation of the departmental Coffee Growers Committee, the National Association of Foreign Trade (Analdex), RAP Eje Cafetero, COTELCO Chapter Risaralda, Comfamiliar, Codegar and the Chamber of Commerce of Pereira.

Salomón Cruz, president of this society, expressed that the proposals are based on territorial planning studies, as well as the main needs that the department has in terms of the recovery of spaces, access roads, water security, among others.
Water protection
The first proposed project is related to the adequate development of the department’s water conditions, whether called aqueducts, basins or rivers, to prevent its loss, both in quantity and quality in urban and rural areas: “It is a vision that has the country on territorial planning. This implies that in our territorial planning plans, in our basic plans and schemes of the municipalities of the department, they have to be reviewed and reformulated under the concept of water as a structure of the territory,” indicated the president.
Cultural Housing
Considering that approximately 35% of the department is made up of protected lands, where the Coffee Cultural Landscape (PCC) stands out, recognized as a tourist attraction and world heritage, the Society of Architects emphasizes the importance of developing projects related to the PCC. From the architectural perspective, they propose to the Government the implementation of something that is already regulated in the country: the strengthening of ‘Cultural Housing’. This approach would not only contribute to the recognition and preservation of heritage, but would also take advantage of an existing regulation to boost architectural development in the region. This proposal would involve the construction of houses with guadua, recognizing and preserving the typology of housing that has emerged from the diverse cultures in the territories of the department.
Linear parks
In another aspect, Cruz stressed the need to revitalize areas both in the city and in the other municipalities of Risaralda. An example of this was the linear intervention carried out in the Arrayanal ravine in Mistrató. It is expected that this initiative will be replicated in the other municipalities of the department.

“In another more general point that we proposed to the governor is to have the possibility that in the project that he is currently carrying out, which are the Samán roads, which the consultancy is already being developed, the designs of the double carriageway have already been contracted. via La Virginia, we asked him to review the possibility of this consultancy doing, studying alternatives, the concept of the Par Vial,” Cruz concluded.
