The Health Reform project faced a significant setback in the Senate of the Republic, where it was archived with 9 votes in favor and 5 against after an intense debate in the seventh commission. This decision marks a crucial point in the legislative journey of the proposal, which had already gone through debates in the House of Representatives.
The intervention of the Minister of Health, Guillermo Alfonso Jaramillo, underlined the importance and urgency that the Government saw in approving the reform. Despite this, the senators’ position led to an adverse outcome for the project.
The decline of the project became evident after the presentation of a negative presentation by eight senators, which influenced the final result. This setback represents an obstacle for the Government of Gustavo Petero, who still has the debate on labor and pension reform pending.
Meanwhile, the pension reform is already being processed in the Senate of the Republic, which suggests that the Government will continue to face significant challenges in its legislative agenda.
