Another recognition is added to the list for the work and commitment that the municipality of Santa Rosa de Cabal has had for sustainable tourism. From Curitiba, Brazil, it was learned that Don Fermín Café Inclusante has been distinguished by the Ibero-American Network of Smart Tourist Destinations for its outstanding practices in inclusion and social sustainability.

The Ibero-American Network of Smart Tourist Destinations arises from a voluntary agreement between innovative tourist destinations such as Tequila in Mexico, Medellín and Bogotá in Colombia, Argentina and Brazil. This pact establishes the commitment to create collaborative alliances between public and private entities and organizations that promote the sustainable and competitive development of destinations. The formation of this network represents an opportunity to promote responsible, accessible, technological, innovative and coordinated tourism in the region.

Don Fermín Café is a pioneer in inclusive coffees in the Coffee Region, an initiative born from community entrepreneurship that has received the support of both the municipal administration and private companies in Santa Rosa de Cabal. It is a place where the deaf community provides care to tourists and local residents through sign language. Jhon Alexander Giraldo, LSC interpreter and café administrator, expressed his joy at receiving this distinction, as well as the commitment they have for the future:

“We are looking to give a better dynamic to the project, where we wait for the completion of the works on Parque Los Fundadores to locate the project again on this site and turn it into a Santa Rosa bastion of inclusion and coffee in the region,” he indicated.

For his part, Carlos Montes, Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Competitiveness of Santa Rosa de Cabal, shared: “This makes us happy because it is a recognition of the articulated work we are doing between the public sector, headed by Mayor Paulo Gómez, and the private sector, led by the Chamber of Commerce, tourism associations and in general, all the tourism providers that have been linked, that we have been able to organize over the years and especially at this beginning of administration.”
