After a one-year competition, the National Highway signed a contract to extend the R1 by three kilometers.
It promises a significant reduction in the morning queues in Banská Bystrica.
The key problem is the bridge is in very poor condition.
In a few weeks, work will start on the extension of R1 from Banská Bystrica to Slovenská Ľupča. This is promised by the National Highway Company, which has just signed a contract with the Doprastav – Metrostav consortium for the construction of the first three kilometers from Bystrica towards Podbrezová.
The new section will noticeably relieve drivers during the morning and afternoon rush hours, when queues form at the entrance to Bystrica, especially from Brezno, writes the national highway.
