Draghi sees Letta, on the Ukraine table and expensive-bills

The Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, met the secretary of the Pd Enrico Letta this morning at Palazzo Chigi. The Prime Minister reports that at the center of the discussion were “support for government action and issues related to the Ukrainian crisis and the rise in energy prices”.

On the subject of price increases, Matteo Salvini let something slip away. “I expect Friday to be a good day for the Council of Ministers on bills,” said the secretary of the League speaking to reporters in front of the Consulta and adding that he had spoken yesterday with Prime Minister Mario Draghi and had talked about the expensive bills. “It is not possible that money is not earmarked in a time of crisis. I refuse to think that this week will pass without any money being found. ‘

Yesterday, during the presentation of a book, Letta had explained what are the strategic lines of action of his Pd. To do so, he recalled Mattarella’s election, with all the difficulties encountered: «A parliament with a mixed group so high in its numbers had never been seen. The perimeter of the governing majority, the perimeter of political majorities were perimeters that did not communicate with each other. The degree of complication was completely new ”, recalled the Pd secretary. “I believe that in the end the solution identified was a solution that must be read as an opportunity for politics to save its dignity. This affair gave politics extra time. Today politics has a great responsibility before it, to support the government and the prime minister. For us in the Democratic Party this is the absolute priority to give our country a year of stability to get to the elections and so that the elections do not become an Armageddon. We have experienced an intense and difficult phase that offers politics an opportunity and we must seize this opportunity ”, concluded Letta.
