DRC: National road threatened with cutting in Makiala village

Traffic on national road number 1, in its section between the city of Kinshasa and Grand Kasaï, is threatened by an erosion head near the village Makiala, located 35 kilometers from the town of Kenge (Kwango).

The vice-president of the Kwango provincial civil society consultation framework, Symphorien Kwengo, who sounded the alarm on Tuesday April 9, asks the Roads Office to do everything to avoid the worst:

“The RN 1 is threatened with being cut by a head of erosion which is on the rise just after the Konzi bridge, before arriving at the Makiala village. This erosion has already damaged the right part of the road. To pass “At this point, vehicles going up or down use the left wing. It only takes one rain for the part that is still resisting to be cut off.”

The head of this citizen structure affirms that the provinces of Kwango, Kwilu, Kasaï, Kasaï-Central, Kasaï-Oriental and Haut-Katanga risk being cut off from the capital Kinshasa, in the event of the cutting of this road.

Symphorien Kwengo asks the provincial director of the Roads Office/Kwango to act urgently to limit the damage.
