GORIZIA. Five workers of the maintenance service of Asugi di Gorizia were denounced by the Guardia di Finanza for false attestation of presence in service and embezzlement.

The five absentees, during working hours, used the service vehicles to go to private homes, shops, offices, bars, restaurants and more. All in the midst of the Covid emergency, accumulating a total of over 5,000 kilometers deemed unduly traveled with service vehicles and over 230 hours dedicated to activities deemed unrelated to company interests.

The story was reconstructed by the military of the Economic-Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Gorizia – coordinated by the deputy prosecutors Collini and Ancora, of the Gorizia Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Through the execution of technical investigations and shadowing, but also through the examination of copious documentation relating to the service activities carried out by them and the processing of the related data, the financiers have ascertained numerous conducts of possible criminal relevance, with reference to the undue use of service vehicles and the systematic removal from normal work activities, to go, as mentioned, to private homes, shops, offices, bars, restaurants, workshops, farms.

In particular, it emerged that the same workers, almost daily, reached external structures of the healthcare company to which they belong – where most of the time they stopped for a few minutes or only walked the internal perimeter without even stopping – following fantasy itineraries with consequent unjustified travel of tens of kilometers. Often, these “digressions” have proved to be functional to reaching commercial establishments, restaurants, bars, public and / or private offices, for reasons unrelated to their work duties.

In relation to these, a total of over 5,000 kilometers deemed unduly traveled with service vehicles and over 230 hours dedicated to activities deemed unrelated to the company’s interests have been calculated.
