In July this year, a total of 4,770 birds of 55 species were monitored in the Napa Sea, among which the number of coot chickens, cattle egrets, and egrets are the majority.

Yu Jianjun, deputy director of the Napahai Provincial Nature Reserve Management and Protection Bureau, introduced that in recent years, the Napahai Management and Protection Bureau has carried out routine management and protection work such as patrols, monitoring, and popular science education, and guided villagers to directly participate through community co-management. Wetland protection, combined with the implementation of protection and restoration projects, and the development of wetland ecological benefit compensation projects, wetland protection has achieved certain results. It is reported that in 2016, Napahai launched an internationally important wetland ecological benefit compensation project. The project has so far invested 36 million yuan to implement ecological benefit compensation for surrounding villagers. Wetland will be compensated 280 yuan per mu per year and 1500 yuan per mu per year to restore wetlands. The area is nearly 666 hectares.

With the continuous improvement of the ecological environment of the Napa Sea, in recent years, the population and number of wintering migratory birds in the Napa Sea have increased year by year, and the number of black-necked cranes, which are the key protected objects, has steadily increased year by year. The number of black-necked cranes has increased from 61 in 1984 to about 320. . The number of black storks under protection in 2004 was more than 60. In November 2020, the number of black storks migrating reached 416. At present, the Napa Sea has become the largest, most concentrated, and most important wintering place and migration stop for the domestic black stork population. The population and number of summer resident birds are increasing year by year, and coot chickens are waiting for birds to breed in the Napa Sea and become resident birds. In 2019, a large number of summer birds appeared in the Napa Sea for the first time, including more than 600 small egrets and cattle egrets. In 2020, the number of summer birds in the Napa Sea will reach more than 2,000.
