BELLUNO. About 800 people from Belluno suffer from chronic intestinal inflammatory diseases. Today, May 19, is the World Day of Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), and the motto this year is “IBD has no age”.

Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases affect more than 4 million people worldwide, aged between 20 and 40. However, we are talking about chronic diseases, which therefore continue to have a weight even beyond the age of 65. It is also estimated that over the next ten years older people with chronic bowel disease will represent more than a third of all affected people. Today in ulss Dolomiti there are about 800 patients with exemption for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. But thanks to research, the therapeutic perspectives and treatments are constantly evolving, with an important increase in the quality of life, in all its phases.
