Thanks to various security strategies, El Salvador has managed to position itself as a key tourist destination for nationals and foreigners. Therefore, according to Government statistics, it is expected that by 2024 at least 3.8 million tourists will visit the country.
The head of the Salvadoran Institute of Tourism, Eny Aguiñada, highlighted the increase in international tourists that occurred in 2023 (3.4 million) and mentioned that for this year there is already a projection of receiving 3.8 million tourists, which in its Most come from the United States.
This figure is a 49% increase over 2022. Additionally, El Salvador is expected to receive at least $3.8 billion in foreign currency earnings.
