NATIONAL (special envoy) During the mass in Caacupé, Amancio Benítez, bishop of the Diocese of Benjamín Aceval, launched harsh questions against the authorities who “even give their dogs a salary”, referring to the latest incidents of nepotism among senators and deputies who came to light. The fact is that the manipulation of state resources has already become unbearable, politicians with pretenses of untouchable gods who come to office licking the feet of every mafia member they come across.

During his homily, in the presence of many parishioners, he reflected on the vocation and its elements: an attentive ear to listen to the word of God, docility to allow oneself to be instructed, a vital encounter with Christ and availability to do the will of God.

In that sense, he questioned that “we lack a more attentive ear to the word of God,” since “we have a lot of noise in our heads and hearts.”

“Many things prevent us from hearing the word of God at this time,” he indicated and said that it is extremely necessary for the baptized to assume their mission at home, in the family, in education, in sports, in politics, at work. and in social service.

“All these that we see in the news, surely they were baptized, but in their lives they do not demonstrate that mission that must be fulfilled because the first element is missing, which is an attentive ear to the word of God,” he reproached.

Likewise, he maintained that young people, fathers and mothers, are needed, attentive to the word of God.

“We have to analyze who we listen to. Many times, we listen to any bad advice, talk about others, gossip and many times we pay attention to anything unimportant,” she continued.

On the other hand, he spoke of the responsibility of knowing how to guide, of showing the good path with our example and prayer; However, he warned that if we are a bad example “it creates discomfort.”

“Teachers in schools, mayors in cities, governors, legislators. If they then set a bad example for us, they create discomfort in our lives and give us a bad example,” he reprimanded.

In addition, he criticized the latest acts of nepotism that came to light and have as protagonists the children, wives or brothers of deputies or senators.

“Our authorities instead of being examples for us, guidance and reassurance, but any ijaguamime obusueldopa (even their dog is given a salary),” the bishop objected.

Continuing with his reflection, he asked himself “how is it possible for us to live in peace and tranquility if we do not have a good guide or good advice.” And we also ask ourselves, how do these people sleep knowing that throughout the country there is a lot of misery and scarcity and what is worse, those who have the opportunity to study and achieve professionally never find the opportunity to honestly enter public service.
