The tradition of Semana Mayor is still alive throughout Risaralda, as was evident
Yesterday in the Palm Sunday processions, one of the most important moments for the Catholic faithful began.
Seas of people flooded the streets and parishes of the department. Believers
were present in this Catholic tradition, anticipating a Holy Week with much
fervor and spirituality.
Waving the bouquets and with great devotion, the faithful showed why Risaralda is one of
The departments of the country where the greatest assistance has the activities of this
era.
In Pereira the procession that left the Cathedral of Our Lady of Poverty was
accompanied by thousands of people who chanted the name of Jesus and who attended the
solemn Eucharist that took place in the main Catholic temple of the department.
Today religious activities will continue with Children’s Week, starting at 3:00
pm with the representation of the Lord’s Supper and Washing of the Feet, and then start with the procession “Jesus and his public life.”
The administrative, police, military and environmental authorities were in the
different meeting points for the faithful, with the purpose of guaranteeing security,
avoid the presence of branches of the wax palm.
We must remember that one of the novelties of this year’s Holy Week in Pereira is
the lighting of the main Catholic temples.
