Hundreds of farmers from Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony are in the port of Hamburg with their tractors. The association “Land Creates Connection” has registered the demo.
The organizers are expecting up to 600 participants. Three tractor parades started in Ahrensburg, Wedel and Stade with the destination Hamburg harbor. There will be a rally on Worthdamm this afternoon. Coming from Ahrensburg, the tractors rolled through Wandsbek and St. Georg. The tractor column from Wedel drove via Sülldorf, Groß Flottbek, Bahrenfeld and St. Pauli.
Farmers from Hamburg will probably not be there on Thursday. They had already driven through Bergedorf in a tractor parade on Wednesday morning.
Police expect “significant traffic disruptions”
Farmers criticize the federal government’s austerity plans. The traffic light coalition wants to gradually reduce the subsidy for agricultural diesel. In view of the protest, the police warn “of significant traffic disruptions” throughout the city and especially in the port of Hamburg.
