A judge sentenced the former rector of a school in the municipality of Charalá, department of Santander, to 20 years and nine months in prison, accused of handing over students from that institution to paramilitaries who subjected them to sexual abuse, the Prosecutor’s Office reported this Sunday.

The convicted person, Lucila Inés Gutiérrez de Moreno, allegedly consented to members of the Cacique Guanentá Community Front of the demobilized United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) abusing her students, most of them minors, in a “systematic manner” between 2001 and 2003, she explained. the accusing body in a statement.

The abuses were committed inside the school that Gutiérrez directed, in the town of Riachuelo, belonging to Charalá, and also outside the educational center. He even lent the school Rector’s office so that the attacks could be committed.

Women presented and offered young girls at bazaars, beauty pageants and other celebrations.

Two victims were identified who remained locked up and endured the harassment of paramilitary leaders for prolonged periods.

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that there are at least 25 cases of students who were sexually abused or recruited by the paramilitary group between 2001 and 2003, but that the figure could be much higher.
