Consortium of construction companies unduly obtains 135 thousand euros
(ANSA) – BARI, 01 JUN – A consortium of construction companies in the Bari Murgia allegedly received 135 thousand euros of public funds for agriculture. The Guardia di Finanza of Altamura denounced six people for aggravated fraud, including the three members of the consortium’s board of directors. The companies, instead of building industrial factories, would have used the land owned, over 26 hectares, to request Community contributions from the General Agency for disbursements in agriculture.
The investigations made it possible to reconstruct that, from 2011 to 2013, “in order to obtain free titles from Agea – explain the military – and create the conditions in fact and by law to receive EU public contributions”, the suspects would have “simulated the start of a new agricultural activity, in fact fictitious, falsely declaring to cultivate the land. In 2014 and 2017, the same “titles” were then sold to two other farmers, aware of their “toxicity”, and used by the latter to receive contributions from Agea. Among the denounced there is also the manager of an agricultural assistance center who had managed the company files and sent the aid applications to Agea.
The suspects were also reported to the Court of Auditors of Bari for the alleged damage to the tax authorities, as well as to Agea for the suspension of further payments and for the recovery of the alleged offense. (HANDLE).
