Friuli also risks marginalization in the economic world

Even in the economic world there is an attempt to marginalize Friuli.

For too many years, at least since the Fascist period, the Friulian people have been undergoing a de-Friulanization operation.

Mind you, I don’t want to draw any parallels between current events. It is just an association of thoughts typical of the “flow of consciousness” that leads me to reflect on the situation of the Friulian people, who, due to a great “historical bad luck”, found themselves having to live together in a Friuli Venezia Giulia region that has in fact destroyed his unity and his language at risk.

The mythical moment of the post-earthquake had given us back the dignity we deserved and the awareness of having also linguistic rights that had to be recognized.

We have long fought for our University and for a law that recognized the possibility of speaking our language. But in practice we still find ourselves living in a sort of diaspora.

I don’t want to be misunderstood. I am not against territorial and synergistic forms of aggregation. But the model had to be that of Trentino-South-Tyrol, with two Autonomous Provinces within a region with a special statute.

They also took away the provinces from us. The Province of Udine, which contained much of the Friulian soul, was violently eliminated by a regional president who came from Rome, with all due respect to many Friulians on the left, but also on the right. And with the silent contribution of many autonomists.

The very big problem of the leadership of Confindustria Friuli Venezia Giulia therefore has distant roots, deep and difficult to solve.

Thanks to the “Divide” put in place by someone, now the Trieste-Pordenone axis is likely to “dominate”. And the Province of Udine, the economic engine of the whole Region, would once again be cornered.

Udine’s role would always be to beg from Trieste. And politely say: “Thank you.”

However, one thing fills my heart. That when our young people go abroad for a thousand different reasons they carry the flag of Friuli with them. The latest attempt at de-Friulanization carried out by the very ugly “Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” brand has not yet managed to enter their hearts. And I keep hoping.
