Inauguration of a protected and comfortable environment for women victims of violence, mistreatment and stalking who want to file a complaint or otherwise report a situation of hardship and fragility
CASTELFRANCO. A “room all to oneself” in the headquarters of the Carabinieri Company of Castelfranco, that is a protected and comfortable environment for women victims of violence, mistreatment and stalking who want to file a complaint or in any case report a situation of hardship and fragility.
The environment, created thanks to the collaboration between the Arma and the Soroptimist association which in seven years led to the creation of almost two hundred similar premises in Italy and five in the Marca, was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of the prefect Angelo Sidoti, the commissioner Vito Montaruli and the mayor and president of the Province Stefano Marcon.
But it will not be the last: the provincial commander of the Arma Gianfilippo Magro has announced that two more will be opened soon, one in Mogliano and one in Montebelluna. «It is meant to be a sign of closeness to the victims of violence», said Colonel Magro, «from today the communities of Castellana will be able to take advantage of an even more qualified service from the carabinieri.
The most vulnerable people will be able to find today in Castelfranco a comfortable environment with trained people. It is a demanding service but we care a lot for the spirit of closeness to our communities “.
Since the beginning of the year there have been thirty “cases” taken on by the Carabinieri of Castelfranco as explained by Major Enrico Zampolli: «We intervened on the recommendation of the interested parties for mistreatment in the family and personal injury, but let’s not forget the persecutory acts. The cases have always been treated with the utmost sensitivity, some have seen coercive measures, in others in agreement with the judicial authority, with complaints in a state of freedom “.
The watchwords of the Soroptimist for this initiative summarize its objective or rather welcome, listening, help. Also present at the ceremony was director of the social and health service of Ulss 2 Roberto Rigoli with doctors Roberta Durante and Lucia Pavan. “A room like this is at the service of women and children who must bear witness to the events they have undergone,” explains Dr. Durante, head of the interprovincial team on abuse and mistreatment. “The fact that there are already five in the Marca and others will be added means concern for a serious phenomenon but also the desire to intervene: the data is increasing both nationally and regionally”.
