“They have seen fit to get a property in Valledupar, in a good place, I already saw it. They made me choose, what pride for us! A property to make a second headquarters for the Turco Gil Academy to train more boys and girls as cashiers, accordion players, guacharaqueros, singers, as I have been doing,” commented Andrés ‘El Turco Gil’, director of the Foundation.
The Turco Gil Vallenato Children’s Foundation has trained hundreds of accordion players, cajistas and guacharaqueros of vallenato music. Many of them have become kings of the best festivals in Colombia.

“FORM HUMAN BEINGS”
Daniel Rojas, president of the SAE, highlighted the positive impact that the work of teacher Turco Gil has on the lives of boys and girls from marginalized communities, and announced the delivery of a vehicle to facilitate the transportation of the participants.
“Andrés El Turco Gil is the trainer of the best accordion players in the country, who not only trains artists, but human beings. He transforms the lives of boys and girls from the most excluded neighborhoods, from the periphery, from the countryside, vulnerable to falling into crime and drugs, Professor Turco Gil instructs them, teaches them the accordion, the box, the guacharaca, the beauty of Vallenato folklore, and it makes them better human beings,” said Daniel Rojas.
This initiative not only strengthens the cultural heritage of Vallenato, but also offers hope and opportunities to future generations of Valledupar.
