What is EMC

The EMC was born in 2016, in the middle of peace negotiations between the Government and the dissolved guerrilla of the FARC, when the First Front, led by Néstor Gregorio Vera, alias “Iván Mordisco” (who now commands the EMC), announced that it would continue in the armed struggle.

This group is made up of guerrillas who never joined the peace process, unlike the other major dissident, the Second Marquetalia, led by “Iván Márquez” who took up arms in August 2019, after having joined the agreement.

According to authorities, the EMC It has at least 3,400 members, of which 2,149 are armed and 1,331 are members of support networks.
