Government of Alto Paraná offers 1,600 university scholarships for students with limited economic resources

Landy Torres held the launch of BECAP 2024 at a press conference.

The government of Alto Paraná, through the departmental program BECAP 2024, offers all students between 18 and 35 years of age who wish to continue their tertiary studies, from the 22 municipalities, opportunities to pursue a university degree, making available 1,600 scholarships.

“From speech to actions, 1,600 university scholarships for young people from Alto Paraná,” posted the governor, César “Landy” Torres on social networks.

At the launch of the scholarships, Landy was very satisfied with this achievement, because the greatest possible effort was made to absorb the demands of the young people of the 22 districts of Alto Paraná.

“We are very happy to be able to announce and present to you one of our most important programs of the Alto Paraná Government. We want this scholarship program to reach citizens, scholarships that are for students of our department. We want to do it with the greatest transparency possible. This program is launched through the signing of agreements with national and private universities,” Torres highlighted.

Of the total offered, 500 scholarships are from the Government, through the economic contribution consisting of the sum of 3 million guaraníes for each awarded student, in two payments, with a total investment by the departmental government of 1,500,000,000 million guaraníes .

The remaining 1,000 half scholarships and 100 full scholarships are through alliances and agreements between the Government and several universities in the department.

“Many times, many young people cannot study because they work or because they no longer have the financial resources to pay for university. Today we are also giving this opportunity to those young people who did not have a good average in their grades, precisely because they had to work. With this program that we are launching, students with an average of 3.5 will be able to access scholarships. Previously, 4 or 5 points were required and that was an obstacle for our young people to study. Now we are wanting to give the opportunity to as many young people as possible, so that they can train and prepare themselves in this way, to enter the labor market, with greater ease, which is our main objective,” Landy noted.

They also inform that registration for interested parties is already enabled, and that it will be extended until January 31, on the Government’s website: http://www.altoparana.gov.py/v0/
