Petro explained that this decision could be made to be able to allocate resources to address the emergency in a more direct way and not waste time, explaining that first it was not a state of emergency but rather a state of natural disaster and that this was a power that the Government but that required the signature of all the ministers to be able to declare:
“What it generates is that items can be moved to other items, with the purpose of solving problems that arise, such as the allocation of resources so that helicopters can be made available to put out fires, move resources to move tank trucks… The decree tells us It allows moving games to solve disaster problems, the same thing that will be done with Chocó with the highway issue, but this has specific times,” he mentioned.
On the other hand, Gustavo Petro made it clear that these types of measures would only be taken when emergencies exceeded the State’s capacity to address them and a different solution was required.
Likewise, he mentioned that if necessary he would call for international help, remembering what happened some time ago when Colombia supported Chile.
