Severe Rainfall and Strong Winds Hit Guangxi, Causing Disruption

On the night of April 20th until the morning of April 21st, many areas in Guangxi experienced heavy rainfall and strong convective weather, causing chaos and disruption in the region.

Reporters captured images showing dark clouds covering the sky in Nanning, Guangxi around 8 a.m. on the 21st, followed by powerful winds and heavy rainfall.

The severe weather conditions were attributed to the influence of high-altitude troughs, shear lines, and cold air. Nanning City experienced heavy to heavy rains, with some areas like Mashan County, Shanglin County, Binyang County, and Wuming District facing local heavy rains. Wind gusts of magnitude 7-10 were also reported in certain areas, with the strongest gust reaching 28.1 meters/second in Wuming District.

The Nanning Meteorological Observatory issued a total of 31 warning signals for heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail since 8 pm on the 20th. This included 4 red warning signals for heavy rain. On the morning of the 21st, a yellow warning signal for thunderstorms and strong winds was issued.

The severe weather conditions have disrupted daily life in Guangxi, with residents advised to stay indoors and take precautions. The meteorological department continues to monitor the situation closely and provide updates to the public.
