The ruling party Pacto Histístico has filed a challenge against Judge Álvaro Hernán Prada in the case involving President Gustavo Petro and his presidential campaign. This action occurs after Prada and another judge of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Benjamín Ortiz, filed a presentation requesting to open an investigation and file charges against Petro and his then campaign manager, Ricardo Roa.

The challenge is based on what the Historical Pact considers a clear violation of the principle of impartiality and an alleged violation of the conflict of interest regime. According to the document presented by the party, there is evidence that suggests that Prada has impediments of undue interest and animosity towards President Petro, his campaign and the political project that he represents.

In addition, the past of Judge Prada is mentioned, who, after resigning his seat in the Congress of the Republic with the Democratic Center, sought his election as an investigator in the case against the president. This decision was made after the Supreme Court of Justice called him to trial for alleged bribery in criminal proceedings as an accomplice.
