Two gay couples attacked on the beach of Sommorostro
(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 30 – A group for gay rights in Catalonia has warned about an increase in homophobia after two gay couples were violently attacked on the beach of Sommorostro in Barcelona over the weekend. The BBC reports.
The Observatory against homophobia (Och) reported that five homosexuals were injured in three different attacks over the weekend, on the beach of Sommorostro, in the district of Gràcia and another in the nearby auditorium of the city. In the most serious incident, a man needed facial surgery. Police are investigating but have not made any arrests, local media reported. Local politicians have turned to social media to condemn the attacks. “We will never normalize this situation”, tweeted the head of citizenship rights of the city council, (ANSA).
