The president of the United States, Joe Biden, referred this Thursday to the recent intertwined attacks by Iran and Pakistan, ensuring that “regional aversion” towards the Persian country is the main cause of this conflict.
«As you can see, Iran is not particularly loved in the region. Where that is going is something we are working on now,” the US president responded to a journalist who asked him about it. “I don’t know where that’s going,” he added.
On Tuesday, Tehran attacked two strategic installations of the terrorist group Jaish al Adl (Army of Islam, translated from Arabic) located in Pakistan. Two days later, Islamabad carried out highly coordinated precision military strikes against “terrorist hideouts” in the Iranian province of Sistan and Balochistan.
Biden, who has maintained a rapprochement attitude with Iran in recent months, described the attacks as “worrying” and assured that his Government is working to “reduce tensions” in the region.
“We are working with our allies and partners to try to reduce tensions and prevent the situation from worsening,” said the US president.
The conflict between Iran and Pakistan dates back decades, and has intensified in recent years due to increased activity by terrorist groups in the region.
Specifically, Jaish al Adl is a terrorist group that operates on the border between Iran and Pakistan, and has carried out numerous attacks against civilian and military targets in both countries.
