Bologna – A San Lorenzo in Nocetomunicipality of Forlì, are the work finished Of great urgency for the safety from the Calanco bridle and of the stretch of riverbed of Rabbi river, affected by the post-flood instability. These are works with a total value of 2 million 200 thousand euroswhich will be followed in spring by second part of workthanks to additional funding from 2 million euros allocated by ordinance 8 of the extraordinary commissioner for reconstruction.

“What happened at the San Lorenzo bridle is one of the symbols of the 2023 flood and the transformations of the territory that that event brought with it – he comments Irene Priolo, vice-president of the Region with responsibility for Civil Protection. The return to normality also involves the important construction site just concluded, which will be completed with the works next spring”.

The detail of the works

As for the completed work, it was the functionality of the riverbed was restored downstream of the lock, which was completely blocked by gravelly sediments, and the debris caused by the collapse of some poultry sheds destroyed by the flood was removed. The river bed was widened and brought back to the right conditions to allow the water to flow over the bridle chute.

Subsequently it was fixed the bridle artifact itself, subjected since 2018 to restrictions of historical-artistic interest, following the intervention methods indicated by the Superintendence. Part of the collapsed structure was restored by placing cyclopean boulders in the valley wall and stone blocks in the valley slide. It was then a bulkhead of bored piles was created lateral to the bridle, on the side towards Predappio, to guarantee the hydraulic seal of the embankment on which the damaged farm stood.

The works will start in spring

Further financing of 2 million euros will allow work on the San Lorenzo bridle to continue in the coming months. They are expected remodeling of the riverbed del Rabbi upstream and downstream of the lock and, locally, resecting interventions of the bed where the deposition of sediments has reduced the flow capacity. We will also work against hydrogeological instability, to protect the stability of the slopes and the road system along via Chiusarola and via Comeccia.
The interventions are planned and followed by the Forlì-Cesena Office of the Regional Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection.
