In Popayán the circulation of animal-drawn vehicles is prohibited – news

The Municipal Government is exercising control over this type of cargo transportation.

Through controls in different places in Popayán, the Municipal Administration is enforcing the restriction on the circulation of animal-drawn vehicles, VTA.

The Secretary of Transit and Transportation of Popayán, María Liliana Vargas, stated that the purpose is to control this activity in the municipality. “It must be clarified that at this time the circulation of animal-drawn vehicles in Popayán is completely prohibited, because the Replacement Program ended in the previous period.”

For his part, the Secretary of Health of the Municipality, Gerardo Zúñiga, pointed out that the department under his charge supports control operations and monitors the beneficiaries of the Substitution Program. “We have held several meetings with those who participated in said program to maintain the inspection, so that these animal-drawn vehicles are not used again.” He added that the work to protect the horses that are rescued continues, in order to avoid any mistreatment.

The departments of Transit and Transportation, and Agro-Environmental Development and Economic Development, DAFE, are reviewing the pending aspects with some beneficiaries, such as the issuance of the driving license, with a view to completing this procedure as soon as possible and delivering the inputs for three ventures.

The Animal Traction Vehicle Replacement Program, VTA, benefited 196 people (of 217 registered), 188 of them chose to receive a motor vehicle to work and 8 chose the option of seed capital for entrepreneurship.
