Booming Cross-Strait Exchanges: Nearly 450,000 Passengers Travel between Fujian and Taiwan in First Quarter
In a recent report by the Xiamen Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station, it was revealed that in the first quarter of 2024, there was a significant increase in the number of passengers traveling between Fujian and Taiwan. Nearly 450,000 cross-strait passengers were inspected at Fujian ports, marking a year-on-year increase of almost 3.3 times.
The data from the customs clearance of Fujian ports in the first quarter of this year showed that there were over 1,100 direct cross-strait passenger flights with more than 156,000 passengers. Additionally, there were more than 1,800 cross-strait “mini three links” direct passenger ships with over 294,000 passengers.
Sources from the border inspection stated that the implementation of ten entry-exit policies and measures to support Fujian’s construction of a cross-strait integrated development demonstration zone has led to a surge in personnel exchanges, non-governmental activities, and economic and trade exchanges between Fujian and Taiwan.
To accommodate the increasing demand for cross-strait exchanges, the cross-strait “mini-three links” passenger routes have announced an increase in the number of flights starting from April 1. This adjustment aims to make cross-strait personnel exchanges faster and more convenient for travelers. For example, the Quan (Zhou) Jin (Men) route has increased its round-trip flights to one daily trip, totaling 7 round-trip flights per week. Similarly, the Fu (Zhou) Ma (Zu) route now operates “four in and four out” flights per day, up from the previous “two in and two out” schedule.
During the recent Qingming Festival (April 4 to April 6), more than 70 passenger ships were inspected at Fujian ports carrying nearly 11,000 passengers on the cross-strait “small three links” passenger routes. The customs clearance process was reported to be safe, orderly, warm, and smooth, ensuring a pleasant travel experience for all passengers.
