The mayor of Valledupar, Ernesto Orozco Durán, signed Decree 000507 that implements a rigorous set of measures aimed at strengthening solid waste management in the municipality.
Through the control measure, the Municipal Administration established four authorized points for the transfer of solid waste, as well as a system of fines structured to ensure compliance with the regulations for proper garbage management, preserve public well-being and health. from the city.
There are nearly 170,000 square meters available for the “disposal of solid and ordinary waste and pruning and vegetable waste”, distributed as follows:
• El Tarullal Lot, south east sector point (located in the extension of race 4)
• Lot behind Mercabastos, southwestern sector point (located on the side on Adalberto Ovalle Avenue)
• El Porvenir Lot, (located on the north side of 80th Street, near Carrera 27)
• Lot via La Mesa (located in a south-north direction on the road that connects Don Alberto Park with the La Mesa district)
With the firm purpose of optimizing the waste collection and final disposal service, the decree stipulates a series of key guidelines and definitions for citizens and entities that provide sanitation services. The scope of application of the decree includes all inhabitants and users, both in urban and rural areas, emphasizing the shared responsibility in the conservation of urban hygiene.
Fines for violators
The Municipal Decree establishes a system of economic sanctions for infractions related to waste management, structured as follows:
Fine Type 1: Two (2) current legal daily minimum wages (smdlv)
Fine Type 2: Four (4) smdlv
Fine Type 3: Eight (8) smdlv
Fine Type 4: Sixteen (16) smdlv
These fines will be applied in cases of inappropriate disposal of waste, failure to comply with the schedules and places designated for garbage, and may increase their value depending on the nature and repetition of the violations.
In addition to fines, Decree 000507 mentions corrective measures such as reprimands and participation in community programs or pedagogical coexistence activities. This approach seeks not only to penalize, but also to educate and sensitize citizens about the importance of correct disposal and management of waste.
The Mayor’s Office of Valledupar urges citizens to adhere to the regulations and actively collaborate with the authorities to keep the city clean and orderly.
