Inmate who escaped from prison turned himself in fear of the militarythe man arrived in the Esmeraldas Governorate with a family member.
Edison O., 19 years old, evaded the security of the detention center in Emeraldshad been at the site for five months when he decided to flee.
He escaped in recent days along with 48 other prisoners. The man stated that he did it because of the incidents carried out by other inmates of the penitentiary center.
O. arrived with an uncle, who accompanied him to run for the Governorship of Emeralds. At this site he made contact with Governor Javier Buitrón and police elements.
The man was handed over at 10:00 p.m. this Tuesday, January 16, and personnel from the National Police formalized the recapture.
According to the inmate, he was afraid that the elements of the Armed Forcesif they intercept him violently. He stated that he was hiding for several days, but family members motivated him to turn himself in and he did so.
The uncle of the prisoner who escaped and then surrendered to The authorities He added that his relative was in a cell with very “seasoned” people and that this filled his nephew with fear.
