The General Directorate of Penal Centers announced that the inmates in the confidence phase have erased gang graffiti that served to delimit their territories and cause fear in the communities of the municipalities of Sonsonate.
This week, in the municipalities of Armenia, Izalco and Caluco, a group of inmates dedicated themselves to painting white several walls that were stained in areas that were controlled by the MS-13 and Barrio 18.
Through the Zero Leisure program, days have been held to erase gang graffiti throughout the country, which in many sectors included threats and messages of hate to the residents of the places where they were painted.
In addition, another group of prisoners in the confidence phase has dedicated themselves to cleaning tasks on Sonsonate beaches, in order to keep these tourist places attractive to allow entrepreneurs in the area to market their products.
